Social
Forestry Programme |
|
In Pandiriguda and Khoraguda villages 34 acres were allotted by the
government for social forestry programme in 1989, imitated by the
people in the villages. To supplement the effort of the people,
the project imitated a central nursery at the office. nearly
200,000 plants had been raised in 1989 belonging to different
species like mango, jack, fruit, tamarind and fire wood trees.
These plants are transplanted in the community social forestry
lands owned and managed by the peoples organization and the
women's group in 1990, women raised nurseries for plantation in
eight villages.

Forest Programme |

In 1994, 175 families in 8 villages were selected and have taken
up family forest programme in 380 acres and 700 horticultural
plants kale gova, mango, lime and narinja was planted.

Forest
Protection
|
In 13 villages forest protection committees were undertaken in
1990, and in 1994, 40 villages protected its forest.
In 1997, the programme was initiated in 21 villages. 1240
plants were provided to 207 families and they were identified by
the PO/WG members. in 1998, a JFM forest protection committee was
imitated in 30 villages; all the village people are members of the
JFM committee.

Timber Forest Produce (NTFP) |

With
reference to a discussion with the conservator of forest corpus
regarding the authorization to women groups and trained youth
group for collection and entrepreneurship of minor forest produce
was followed-up. in few villages self-help groups were started
through women's group. The project made a study on the
availability of raw materials after the study.

Natural
Dyes
|
|
The natural dyes programme was implemented in 1998 and
continuing the study on natural dye mordents in natural dyes.

Collection
of Materials.
|
|
During 1998, the staff surveyed and collected natural dye
materials (Horida, Behead and Alma) in the local forest and
villages. The village women group was trained on collection of
barks without getting any harm to the tree. These collected
materials were processed and preserved.

Training
on Natural Dyes
|
|
During 15 days in may 1998 the staff organized a graining
programme for 8 persons (Male-4 and female-4) from centre for
development initiatives on coir natural dye trading. The trainees
were taught on horrid. onion peel, aim and sindur to get four
basic colours and application of mordents. The women group started
collecting the materials and applying with sisals craft at their
production unit.
